Rock Art Walks

Access to Quinkan rock art is provided with an expert guide. This ensures that visitors' safety is maintained, the best possible interpretation is provided, and the sites are protected into the future. Various walks cater to visitors' available time, fitness and interest levels. Please bring covered shoes.

  • Giant Wallaroo - "The Cycle of Birth and Death": Spectacular landscapes and paintings on a walk into Pine Tree Creek valley and up to the opposite escarpment wall.
  • The Brady Creek Escarpment - "Many Clans, Many Totems": Includes Death Adder, Honeymoon Cave, Red Lady, Garfish Sorcery and Tent Shelter rock art sites, near refreshing Brady Creek.
  • Emu Dreaming - "The Emu Ancestor enters the Land": An accessible site featuring ancient abstract engravings and occupation evidence.
  • Yam Dreaming - "The Archaeologists' Choice": A fascinating archaeological dig site on fertility ceremonial grounds, involving a challenging walk and climb into the site (available for exclusive touring only).

Self Guided Walks

  • Shepherd Creek: A track beside the creek offers opportunities for swimming, birdwatching, relaxing and exploring.
  • Frog Hill: Close to camp this is a favourite sunset viewing spot with views over the Safari Camp.

Other Activities

  • Boomerang Throwing: A range of boomerangs can be purchased to develop your skills. Our guides will provide you with instructions for your fun on the throwing range.
  • Art Activities: Art materials are available to allow you to express your inspiration and create the ultimate personal souvenir. Relax with a small canvas or paint a boomerang.
  • Swimming: A safe swimming hole close to camp is the perfect place to cool off and relax after a walk.
  • Birdwatching: Ask for our birdlist and some tips from Jowalbinna's guides to identify Jowalbinna's resident and migratory species around the camp.
  • Stargazing: The clear night sky provides clear views of the southern constellations. Star charts are available.
  • Games: Games, toys and books for children and adults are available from The Dingo's Ear Cafe.
  • Campfire: Sit and chat each night by a welcoming fire at the Dingo's Ear Cafe.
